"It works! Ha ha, IT WORKS! I FINALLY build something that works!"

Raspberry PI

My Raspberry PI arrived by courier a couple of days ago and I am super excited to start playing around with it. I ordered it from Hobbytronics who I have used before and all of my orders arrived in perfect condidtion. I choose the RAM courier option at an extra R80, rather keep it out of the za postal system.

Now I read that it was small but seeing is believing, it really is tiny and surprisingly light weight! I have no idea what I am going to build first but I bought two magazines that will help get me up and running. I'll start by learning some basic Python and take it from there. I really like the way the guys at Codecademy run their FREE courses so they get a mention here but you can find loads of resources for learning Python online.

The Raspberry PI is known as the $35 computer but once you have bought all of the other gear to get it up and running it will be quite a bit more expensive.

What you need:
SD card (This is where the OS goes so I went for a class 10)
USB Keyboard
USB Mouse
Monitor/TV
HDMI Cable
Powered USB Hub(optional)
Power Supply for the Rasberry PI (I bought a mico-USB to USB cable and plugged it into a spare iPhone charger at 1A)

Remember if I can build it you can too!
